Spay & Neuter
Spaying or neutering your pet is one of the most common surgeries we perform at Pleasant View Animal Clinic. It’s a routine procedure, but we understand it can still feel like a big decision.
Our team is here to walk you through what to expect and make sure both you and your pet are comfortable every step of the way.
What Is Spaying and Neutering?
Spaying is the surgical procedure performed on female pets to remove the ovaries and uterus
Neutering is the procedure performed on male pets to remove the testicles.
Both procedures are done under general anesthesia and are considered safe and standard in veterinary medicine.
Why It’s Recommended
Spaying and neutering can help:
Prevent unwanted litters
Reduce certain types of cancers
Lower the risk of uterine infections in females
Decrease roaming and some hormone-driven behaviors in males
We’ll talk with you about the right timing based on your pet’s age, breed, and overall health.

On surgery day, your pet will:
Receive a full physical exam before anesthesia
Have monitoring equipment used throughout the procedure
Be closely observed during recovery
We use modern anesthesia protocols and pain management to keep your pet as safe and comfortable as possible. Most pets go home the same day.
Before discharge, we’ll go over:
Home care instructions
Activity restrictions
Incision monitoring
Signs to watch for
And of course, if you have questions once you’re home, you can call us.on text goes here

Most pets recover smoothly with a little rest and limited activity for about 10–14 days. We’ll let you know when sutures need to be checked or removed, if applicable.
It’s normal for pets to be a little quieter the first day. Within a couple of days, many are feeling much more like themselves, sometimes sooner than we’d prefer, which is why activity restriction is important.
