Soft Tissue & Orthopedic Surgery

In addition to routine procedures, we perform a variety of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries here at Pleasant View Animal Clinic.

We understand surgery can feel overwhelming. Our goal is to clearly explain what’s going on, what the procedure involves, and what recovery will look like, so you feel comfortable moving forward.

  • Soft tissue surgery refers to procedures that do not involve bones or joints.

Common soft tissue procedures we perform include:

    • Mass removals

    • Laceration and wound repair

    • Abscess treatment

    • Foreign body surgery

    • Certain abdominal procedures

Before surgery, we perform a full exam and may recommend bloodwork or imaging to ensure your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. During surgery, pets are closely monitored, and pain management is provided before, during, and after the procedure.

  • Orthopedic surgery involves bones, joints, and ligaments.

We treat a range of orthopedic conditions, including:

    • Fracture repair

    • Certain ligament injuries

    • Joint stabilization procedures

    • Minor corrective procedures

If your pet is limping, painful, or has suffered an injury, we’ll start with a thorough exam and likely digital X-rays to understand the problem. From there, we’ll discuss whether surgery is appropriate and what options are available.

For more complex orthopedic cases that require advanced specialization, we will recommend referral to a trusted surgical specialist. If that’s needed, we’ll help coordinate the next steps and make sure you understand the plan.

  • Safety is our priority during any surgical procedure.

We use modern anesthesia protocols tailored to your pet’s age and health status. Throughout surgery, your pet is monitored for heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and temperature. Pain control is part of every surgical plan.

  • Clear instructions are sent home with every surgical patient. We’ll review:

    • Activity restrictions

    • Medication instructions

    • Incision care

    • Signs of complications

Recovery times vary depending on the procedure, but we stay involved throughout the healing process and are available if questions come up.
